Quality Control System for Angular Luminous Intensity Patterns


Beam Testing Camera System SSL BTC 20 is a camera based setup for fast yet reproducible beam pattern measurements of directional light sources such as automotive and flashlight sources. The typical measurement time is 5 - 10 seconds.  BTC 20 produces comparable results to turning goniophotometers with an accuracy of 7 %. The dynamic measurement range is from 0.3 cd up to 70 000 000 cd.

The main part of the setup is a carriage with the camera, a luminaire holder and the operating computer. There are two lasers for correct alignment of the luminaire. The carriage can be taken aside to save floor space when the measurements are not ongoing. The ceiling height of the laboratory room needs to be at least 2.5 m and the ceiling, the walls and the floor need to be low-reflecting and dark.

SSL BTC 20 is a good choice for characterizing essential photometric parameters of automotive lighting fixtures and portable flashlights. Other popular application is testing of spot lamps in the connection of the assembly line of the lighting fixtures.
