Measuring the reflection properties of materials

BSDF-goniometer (Bidirectional Scattering Distribution Function) is a goniometer for analyzing the scattering of light  on surfaces of materials. The instrument measures the reflection (BRDF) and transmittance (BTDF) in various angles and various wavelengths.

The goniometer has three rotators: the detector is rotated around two axes (azimuth and elevation), and the light source around one axis (elevation), the sample being hold steady. The measurement results a 3-dimensional array in BSDF file format that can be used with simulation tools such as Zemax, Speos and LightTools.
